As the 1970s came to a close, a lot was shifting. McDonald’s launched the Happy Meal, the Seattle SuperSonics won their first (and only!) NBA championship, and My Sharona (by The Knack) was playing everywhere.
Big changes were underway at R+E Cycles, too.

Our staff was growing, the bikes were better than ever, and founders Angel and Glenn made a bold move: they bought the small building next door, then built a three-story shop behind it. That expansion marked a turning point in what would become a decades-long story of innovation, craftsmanship, and community.

Angel’s passion for tandem bicycles—and his ability to dream up new designs—quickly positioned R+E as a leader in the tandem bike world.
Meanwhile, Glenn’s racing chops helped spark our sponsorship of a local racing team. That competitive energy, paired with deep mechanical expertise & artisanship, became part of our DNA.

Visit the shop today and you'll see that same energy, excitement and innovation around bicycles. You'll meet the same kind of people who live and breath bicycles as a career, not a summer job.

As for the team? The matching wool shorts and team jerseys are gone, and so is the official racing team. Now every rider who chooses us to build their custom bike becomes part of Team R+E.
So thank you—for trusting us, for riding with us, and for being part of Team R+E. We know that without you, we couldn't do what we love.
Have an R+E memory? We’d love to hear it via email. Dreaming of a new bike? We'd love to build it.
Thanks again for riding along with us, and being part of our history.
See you in your inbox soon,
